Explain the differences in structure between a vein and an artery

Arteries have a narrower lumen with a thicker layer of muscle tissue which contains more elastic. Whereas veins have a wider lumen with a thinner layer of muscle tissue. Veins also contain valves to prevent back flow as the blood flowing within them is at a lower pressure than the blood in arteries.
