Work out: 3 ½ – 2 ⅓ Give your answer as a improper fraction

3 ½ = 7/22 ⅓ = 7/3To add or subtract 2 fractions, the denominator (bottom number) must be the same. To create a common denominator we can multiply the first fraction by 3 and the second by 2.This gives us 7/2 = 21/6 and 7/3 = 14/6Now we can add the numerators = 21 + 14 = 35so the answer is 35/6
