How do I create a great introduction to an English Literature essay?

Introductions are your essay 'in a nutshell'. You want to briefly answer the question without going into too much detail. You should set up the structrue of your essay in the introduction, mention your points in the order you're going to talk about them. You should also try not to mention anything too specific -you don't want to give away the good stuff too early!
