Do 2x -2 = -4List these factors Choose two of those factors which equal to -3x, in this case 1 and -4 (or the other way around)Rewrite the equation as 2x2 + x - 4x -2, then factorise this in two parts For 2x2+x take out the x getting x(2x+1) and for -4x -2 we take out -2 getting -2(2x+1)As these brackets are the same (2x+1) we can simplify our full equation to (x-2)(2x+1)We then solve for x getting x=2 and x=-1/2
