Solve the simultaneous equations 3x+y=16, x+y=10

3x+y=16 (equation 1)x+y=10 (equation 2)Solve by elimination, notice that we have two of the same y's so as they have the same sign we subtract to get 2x=6, we rearrange to get x= 3Sub this back into equation 2 to get y3+y=10 so y=7 We can check if x and y is correct by subbing them back into any equation and if it produces the answer given our x and y value is correct.
