Explain the functions of the different cell structures in an animal cell

Nucleus - contains the DNA allowing it to control the cells activities. It is the site of transcription where DNA is made into RNA. Ribosomes - the site of protein synthesis where translation occurs.Mitochondria - the site of cellular respiration Cytoplasm - a jelly-like substance full of nutrients, also containing the organelles Cell membrane - a selectively permeable wall surrounding the cell which controls the movement of substances in and out the cell.
