Explain the importance of mitosis?

Mitosis is one of the two types of cell division in eukaryotes. It results in two daughter cells that are identical to the parent cells. The daughter cells have the same alleles in order for the organism's genes to be expressed appropriately. Mitosis allows for old, worn out cells to be replaced by new ones and allows the organism to grow.
