Explain why graphite conducts electricity in terms of structure and bonding.

Graphite has a giant covalent structure where each carbon atom is covalently bonded to three other carbon atoms. Each carbon atom also has one delocalised electron which can flow freely through the structure and carry a charge through the graphite.
