Describe the structure of proteins

A protein is composed of polymers of amino acids, joined together by peptide bonds via condensation.A primary structure is the order of amino acidsA secondary structure is the folding of polypeptide bonds due to hydrogen bonds. This results in alpha-helices and beta-pleated sheetsA tertiary structure is the overall 3D structure of the polypeptide due to hydrogen bonding and ionic/disulphide bondingA quaternary structure is when two or more polypeptides come together
