Solve 4(3x - 2) = 2x - 5. (3 marks)

To solve this linear equation, our ultimate goal is to end up with our unknown "x" value on one side and our number on the other side of this equation. To get to this stage, there are three steps.Firstly, since we have a bracketed term on the LHS, we need to expand these brackets. Doing so yields:12x - 8 = 2x - 5Secondly, we need to group our "x" terms and our numeric terms. To do so, we are essentially trying to cancel the 2x term from the RHS and the 8 on the LHS, which is done through addition and subtraction. Subtracting 2x from both sides and adding 8 to both sides gives:12x - 2x = -5 + 810x = 3Finally, we want to remove the 10 from the front of our last remaining "x" term. This is done by dividing both sides by 10, which gives:x = 3/10 = 0.3
