What is the difference between communicable and non-communicable diseases?

Communicable diseases are diseases that can be transferred from one person or organism to another, for example colds are spread by airborne droplets and malaria is spread through mosquito bites. Non-communicable diseases cannot be transferred, for example cancer and heart disease.
