It is very common among this type of exams to find a literal analysis of a random piece of a novel or article with literal character. The key to this exercise is not only to understand what the text says but what it wants to transmit. The Spanish language is very romantic and therefore it posses a wide range of vocabulary that can be used in many contexts, with powerful figures of speech. As to my experience, I would face this exercise by reading it once to understand the context, and then a second thorough reading to highlight the key points. Normally I would write down a structure, the key things that I know the corrector would ask me for and then filling them up with what I detect in the text. Identifying everything is as important as writing your analysis. Then I would organise the paragraphs. I usually have a fix structure which I vary depending on the type of text. For instance, if it's very metaphorical I would prioritise analysing all the symbolisms and figures of speeches and, very important, what are the intentions of the author with them.
