How do the offspring formed from asexual and sexual reproduction differ? Make sure to describe both processes in your answer.

Asexual reproduction occurs when the offspring comes from a single parent. This results in offspring with the same genetic composition as the parent. Sexual reproduction occurs when a male gamete and a female gamete fuse to form a new offspring. In sexual reproduction the offspring's genetic material is a combination of both parents. This results in an organism that is different from either parent. In summary, asexual reproduction results in offspring that is genetically identical to the single parent whereas sexual reproduction results in offspring that is genetically different from both parents.
