expand and simplify (x+1)(x-1)

first begin by expanding the brackets using the CLAW method (shown using whiteboard diagram)multiply the first of each bracket together, we get x2multiply the first term of the first bracket and the second term of the second bracket, we get -xmultiply the second term of the first bracket and the first term of the second bracket, we get +xmultiply the second term of each bracket, we get -1therefore, we have x2 - x + x -1simplifying we get x2 - 1this is called the difference of 2 squares
