Why does boiling point decrease down group 1 in the periodic table? [3 marks]

Atomic radius increases
Although nuclear charge increases, this is outweighed by the increased shielding from inner shell electrons
Therefore, nuclear attraction to the delocalised electrons decreases (metallic bonds are weaker and so require less energy to overcome)
