What is the difference between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells?

The main difference is the eukaryotic cells contain membrane bound organelles where as prokaryotic cells do not. The nuclear region, called the nucleoid, in prokaryotic cells is not bound together by nuclear membrane, the genetic information floats around the cell. However, In a eukaryotic cell, all the genetic information is found in a membrane bound organelle, called the nucleus. Also, eukaryotic cells are usually larger than prokaryotic cells. Another big difference between the two types of cells is they way they divide. Prokaryotic cells undergo cell division by fission or budding, no mitosis occurs. Where as eukaryotic cells divide by mitosis.
