the area of a rectangle is (x) m in length and (2x+1)m in height. the total area of the rectangle is 55m^2. work out the value of x.

first draw out a rectangle with those values.then use a farmers field to find the area of the quadratic (x)(2x+1) = 2x^2 + xthen equate 2x^2 + x = 55then equate to 0 so 0 = 2x^2 + x -55then factorise to get (2x-11)(x-5) = 0therefore x=5 as x cant be a negative answer
