How can we treat coronary heart disease? (OCR 21st century Biology)

Well, what is coronary heart disease?Coronary arteries are blood vessels that supply the heart muscle with food and oxygen With these nutrient, these muscle cells can respire and release energy for muscle contraction These arteries can become blocked overtime by fatty deposits like cholesterolMuscle cells deprived of nutrients and die How do we treat it? Firstly implement lifestyle measure to reduce further blockages of vessels - e.g. stop smoking, reduce unhealthy diets/fatty foods that contribute to cholesterol build up Drugs can be used e.g. statins - reduce amount of cholesterol in blood, blood pressure drugs - as high blood pressure risk factor to heart diseaseSurgery - bypass -> veins from patient's legs grafted/sealed into the heart in order to bypass/skip areas of the blocked arteries, stenting also possible
