How do i solve quadratic equations?

Quadratic equations have a variable usually the letter x (but it could be any letter or symbol in theory). The value of x is unknown but you can work it out after following a few simple steps. Here is an example of a quadratic equation:x2+ 5x+10= 4 1) First we need to set the equation equal to 0 so we subtract 4 from both sides of the equals sign x2+5x+6=02) Now we can factorise the equation. This means splitting the equation into brackets which are factor pairs.(x + 2 ) (x + 3 ) = 03) In order for the whole equations to equal 0 either (x + 2) must equal 0 or (x + 3) must equal 0. This is because any number multiplied by 0 will always equal 0.Therefore:x + 2= 0 or x + 3= 0X = -2 or -3
