What are the differences between mitosis and meiosis?

Mitosis is used in growth, asexual reproduction and repair. Whereas meiosis is used in sexual reproduction.

Mitosis involves a single nuclear division, whilst meiosis has two. Hence mitosis generates two diploid daughter cells, whereas meiosis produces four haploid gametes.

Mitosis generates genetically identical cells, unlike meiosis.
