We have been told that there is £7.20 in bag A, to simplify this, you can begin by turning this into pennies as well. So we have 720p in bag A. We need to know how many 20p coins this is, so we will divide 720p by 20p. By long division, we can work this out to be 36. So we now know we have 36 coins in bag A. We have been told that we have three quarters of the amount of coins in Bag B as we do in Bag A. So we can multiply 36 by 0.75, or work it through step by step in quarters to find that we therefore have 27 coins in Bag B. Next we can multiply 27 by 5 to work out that we have 135p in Bag B. We can finally divide 135 by 100 (as there are 100 pennies in a pound) to get the final answer of £1.35 in the correct unit.
