How do you closely analyse text?

We initially have to define and understand key phrases used to analyse text, including metaphors, similies, pathetic fallacy, perconification, symbolism etc.

We will put this into practise by identifying them in various texts such as poetry and novels and discuss the effect they have on us, the reader.

This can be followed by coming up with your own examples to use in descriptive writing.
