What is historiography?

Historiography can be difficult to get to grips with. Quite simply, historiography is the study of existing scholarship and written history. Through looking into historiography, you can identify areas of debate and agreement between historians, and this can be used to support your argument. However, don't be afraid to challenge some of the existing views - everyone is entitled to their own opinion on a topic and nothing goes to say you can't disagree!
