How to remember quotes in a closed-book exam?

A simple way to retain a large number of quotes in to group them into themes. Undoubtedly, you will have discussed the general themes present in the text you have been studying, and these will come in handy when trying to remember quotes. A favourable way of doing so is to make a ‘quote bank’ or mind map, gathering all the quotes relating to a particular theme e.g. love, loss, society. It will be much easier to remember a quote in such a time-pressured exam when it is linked with an overarching theme or idea. Next, it is best to learn these by rote, testing yourself by memory and/or with flashcards.
