When should I use the Genitive?

The Genitive case normally denotes POSSESSION

If you are saying something belongs to someone by using 's or 'of' in English then use the Genitive case.

- 'Anna's chair' --> 'the chair of Anna' --> 'стул Анны'

The Genitive is also commonly used when something or someone is absent. The absent object or person is in the genitive case.

- 'There are no tables' --> 'столов нет'
