50 people ate a snack , some had apples some had biscuits the rest had banana. 21 people were male the rest female. 6 out of 8 people who had apples were female. 18 people had biscuits. 9 females had bananas. How many males had biscuits?

Write down all the information they have given you so There is 50 people 21 male so therefore 50 -21 = 29 females It says 6 out of 8 people who had apples were female so that means 8 people had apples Apples Biscuits Bananas 8 6 Females So therefore there is 2 males who had apples because 8-6 = 2 Apples Biscuits Bananas 8 6 Females 2 males 18 people had biscuits Apples Biscuits Bananas 8 18 6 Females 2 males 9 females had bananas Apples Biscuits Bananas 8 18 6 Females 9 Females 2 males No we use the information we have got to fill in the gaps use the areas where we have two out of three pieces of data in a row or column So if there if 50 people overall and we have 8 eating apples and 18 biscuits the total eating bananas must be 50 – (8 +18) = 24 And there is 9 females eating bananas so the number of males must be 24 – 9 = 15 males Apples Biscuits Bananas 8 18 24 6 Females 9 females 2 males 15 males The question asks how many males had biscuits so we know there is 21 males and there is 2 having apples and 15 having bananas so the amount having biscuits must be 21-(2+15) = 4Males And then you can fill in the rest of the table to check everything adds up Apples Biscuits Bananas 8 18 24 6 Females 14 females 9 Females 2 males 4 males 15 Males So the answer is 4 males had bananas
