Using a diagram, outline the path the blood takes through the human body, starting with the aorta and identifying the major vessels and chambers of the heart.

Aorta --> systemic circulation [branches in order: coronary artery (to supply the heart), carotid artery (to supply the head), hepatic artery (to supply the liver), mesenteric artery (to supply the gut), renal artery (to supply the kidneys)]

Return to heart via vena cava [supplying branches: renal vein (from kidneys), hepatic vein (from liver and gut via hepatic portal vein), jugular vein (from the head)]

Entering heart through vena cava --> right atrium --> right ventricle --> pulmonary artery --> lungs --> pulmonary vein --> left atrium --> left ventricle --> aorta.
