What are the stages of mitosis?

Prophase - everything in the cell duplicates, and the chromosomes condense Metaphase - chromosomes align in the middle of the cell and spindle fibres attach to the centromere (part holding the two sister chromatids together) Anaphase - the sister chromatids of the chromosomes are separated and pulled towards the opposite poles of the cell Telophase - separate membranes form around the two separate clusters of chromatids, which unravel to become chromosomes again. Cytokinesis separates the cell into two identical daughter cells.
