How do you form the future tense in German?

  1. Begin with either a pronoun (Ich, Du, Er etc) or a noun (Der Hund)

  2. Use the relevant conjugation of 'werden'

  3. Add an infinitive at the end (e.g. gehen)

Examples:

Ich werde ins Kino gehen- I will go to the cinema

Du wirst Tennis spielen - You will play Tennis

Er wird Schokolade essen - He will eat chocolate

Wir werden zwei Kinder haben - We will have 2 children.

Be careful with the English phrase 'I am going to' - This translates to 'Ich werde' (I will) not Ich gehe.
