What is the structure and function of a sensory neurone?

A sensory neurone is made up of 3 main components: the dendron, the cell body and the axon. At one end of the sensory neurone is the receptor cells where the nerve impulse begins. At the other end of the neurone are the axon terminals were the impulse is passed onto the CNS. Sensory neurones function to pass on information about the external or internal environment from receptors to the central nervous system.
