Solve the equation (3x + 2)/(x - 1) + 3 = 4 (3 marks)

First, multiply all terms by (x - 1) to remove the quotient, and multiply out of the brackets: 3x + 2 + 3(x - 1) = 4(x - 1) >>> 3x + 2 + 3x - 3 = 4x - 4. Next, group all like terms on either side and simplify: 3x + 3x - 4x = 3 - 2 - 4 >>> 2x = -3. Finally, solve for x by dividing by 2: x = -3/2.
