Divide £700 in the ratio 5:3:2

The total number of 'parts' in this ratio is 5+3+2 = 10.

So, to work out how much of the total corresponds to 1 part, we need to divide the total sum by the total number of parts:

700/10 = £70.

Now, we can multiply the amount we know for 1 part by each value in the ratio.

For example:
5 parts would equate to 5 x £70 = £350.
3 parts would equate to 3 x £70 = £210.
2 parts would equate to 2 x £70 = £140.

We can check whether these shared amounts add up to the original total of £700:

350 + 210 + 140 = 700.
