To what extent was Brown vs Board (1954) the most significant turning point in ending segregation in America?

To tackle the turning points question it is important to compare the tuning point to other turning points of the period. In the introduction there are several key points that need to be addressed such as the key words in the question and context of the wider debate. In the body of the essay it is essential to use as much own knowledge as possible to compare the turning point to other turning points of the period and then make a judgement as to which is of greater significance. This turning point can be compared to other positive turning points such as the civil rights act (1964) or the 13th amendment but it can also be compared to negative turning points such as Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896) as the criteria for determining the significance of a turning point are; to what extent the turning point caused a total change, to what extent the turning point was irreversible and how many people were affected and these criteria can be applied to both positive and negative turning points. In the conclusion it is of vita importance to readdress the question and clearly state whether or not the turning point was the most important and summarise the comparisons made in the body of the essay.
