How should I answer a question on christian attitudes to homosexuality ?

When answering a GCSE question that is more than 3 marks, it is helpful to give more than one opinion. There are many different Christian denominations that will have varying perspectives on this. For example, you could begin by stating the more extreme view by Fundamentalists and some Roman Catholic Christians that homosexuality is immoral since it clashes with the natural law of reproduction. You can use Bible stories in the Old Testament such as the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah to illustrate this and quotes such as 'no man is to have sexual relations with another man'. To then give a contrasting opinion, you could use more recent church teachings such as the Methodist Church 1993 resolution that 'affirms and celebrates the participation of lesbians and gay men in the church'. You could also use less specific bible quotes to support how liberal christians may feel such as 'love thy neighbour' and 'for you are all one in Jesus Christ' that would demonstrate why happiness and equality for all people is more important than the norm of heterosexual relationships.
