Outline and explain two consequences of the increase in the number of lone parent families

One consequence of an increasing number of lone parent families is a rise in anti-social behaviour. This is usually because these types of families are at risk of poverty which may cause the children to engage in illegal activities, according to New Right theorist Charles Murray. 90% of lone parent families consist of women being the sole figure and therefore are female headed. Murray argues that because of this, young males who grow up without a father figure which can cause them to act up. For instance, in a nuclear family with a father figure, the father figure would be able to assist and act as a role model for their young males.
