Why do I sometimes see ところ at the end of verbs?

There are multiple uses of ところ in Japanese. When used in conjugation with a verb in the plain form, it is used to emphasise the time at which something happens.
When used with a verb in the present tense, it means to be about to do something. e.g.:これから銀行へ行くところだ。I am about to go to the bank. When used with a verb in the present progressive form, it means to be in the middle of doing something. e.g.:今、銀行へ行っているところだ。I am currently on the way to the bank. When used with a verb in the past form, it means that the subject just did something. e.g.:銀行へ行ったところだ。I just went to the bank.
