y=2x+5, calculate x when y=11

So what we need to do is work out what x is when y is equal to 11.Firstly, we would rearrange the equation so that x is the subject and to do this we subtract 5 from both sides.Thisgives us y-5 =2x. Dividing both sides by 2 will give us x=(y-5)/2.Now we know in this case y is equal to 11 and when we substitute this into the equation we get x = (11-5)/2 = 6/2 = 3.Therefore when y=11, x=3
