Explain how the increasing use of fossil fuels and changes in agriculture may have contributed to global changes in temperature (4)

Global climate change is now a global crisis due to the increase in temperatures causing more extreme events to occur such as more intensive storms and the increase of melting ice caps. Increasing use of fossil fuels has contributed to this because when extracting (machinery used) and using fossil fuels many greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide and methane. These polluted gases act like a blanket and prevent many sun radiation waves from escaping to space, causing an increase in global temperature. Also, a change in agriculture globally can significantly impact climate change. Agriculture releases methane (greenhouse gas) through natural bodily processes, and due to there being a rise in western culture, development and global population, there is a more demand for dairy and meat, therefore there is a higher supply globally of agriculture. Plus, the process of supplying land for agriculture can result in deforestation, releasing carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas) from plantation into the atmosphere. Both methane and carbon dioxide, as a result of agriculture, therefore contribute to the greenhouse effect, causing global warming.
