What is diffusion, and what are the factors that affect the rate of diffusion

Diffusion is the spreading out of the particles of any substance in solution, or particles of a gas, resulting in a net movement from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. This happens because of the random movement of particles. For Example, if you sprayed deodorant into one corner of the room, eventually the whole room would start to smell of the deodorant. This is because the deodorant particles diffused around the room, until they were eventually spread evenly around the room. They moved from the area of higher concentration (the corner) the the area of lower concentration (the rest of the room).These following factors will increase the rate at which diffusion occurs:An increase in temperatureA larger difference in concentration between the two areas.A larger membrane surface area
