Why do you want to become a doctor and not a nurse?

In my work experience I was able to sit in with both a doctor and a nurse to be able to thoroughly understand how their roles are similar and different; to be able to understand myself which career path I am better suited for.

I noted that both professionals had a passion for science and their main focus was on the patient care. Nurses are essential in the hollistic care of patients and take on a caring and supportive role in the patient's care. A doctor's role is in the scientific diagnostics, the creation of a management plan and the prescription of medication for each unique patient. This was something that really engaged me as I love the desicion making involved in medicine. I also loved the problem solving aspect that comes with diagnosis and how the resposibility of the patient ultimately relies on you. I also was draw to medicine for the research opportunities and how there are so many specialities I can branch out into once I graduate. The two healthcare professionals have different procedures but both have the patient's health at the centre.
