If y=4x^3+3/x^2-3, what is dy/dx?

We know the rule for differentiation is, multiply by the power reduce the power by one.
Although having several parts this looks confusing we just need to break it down.
4x^3 differentiates to 12x^2 following the rule3/x^2 can be written as 3x^-2 which the rule can then be applied to making the differential -6x^-3
And as -3 is the same as -3x^0 it differentiates to nothing.
Therefore dy/dx=12x^2-6x^-3
