3/8 is equivalent to ?/24. Find the missing number.

Firstly, we work out what the fraction has been multiplied by. Since the bottom of the fraction is 24, we want to see how many 8's fit into 24. The answer is 3, since 8 multiplied by 3 is 24.Since the bottom of the fraction has been multiplied by 3, the same must happen to the top, called the numerator. So the top becomes 3 multiplied by 3, which is 9.So the resulting fraction is 9/24.
