What is the difference between "ser" y "estar"?

Ser is used to talk about permanent or lasting characterisics.It is used for time: Today is Monday= Hoy es lunesFor characteristics: My jumper is red= Mi jersey es rojo, She is my grandma= Ella es mi abuela.For descriptions: She is pretty= Ella es guapa.
Estar is used for temporary things.Emotions and feeling: She is sad= Esta triste, She is tired= Esta cansada.Location: She is at the park=Esta en el parqueActions/verbs= She is playing= Ella esta jugando.
