During your holidays in Spain you write a blog to describe your experiences. Mention: a day when you had problems and a festival you would like to go to.

I would help the student with this question by breaking down the core things examiners are looking for- which is: creative and complex use of language, expressing and justifying opinions and using appropriate register. I would run through (as a blog) this will be an informal style, using the tu form. To create a more complex structure: Using connectives like: Además, Por añadidura, También, To justify opinions I would suggest phrases such as: Por eso, por lo tanto, así que The question is also asking the student to use a variety of tenses, including the past and future tenses. I would run through some lead in phrases to help the student include these in their answer and explain the difference between the different types of future and past tenses.Past tense lead ins:Mientras (good opportunity to include imperfect tense---- such as, nadaba, comía), vio.... or, mi hermano fue a...Future tense lead ins Mañana me gustaría....Diría que...Further examples of good phrases: Ayer, no fui a la playa porque hubo los festivales de Semana Santa. ^(This is an example of creative use, as it is making cultural reference to festivals that occur in Spain)Me gustaría ir a la playa mañana para que pueda enseñar a mi hermano a nadar (This is an example of complex use of tenses, as it uses the subjunctive and the conditional tense in the same sentence.)
