Is it a good idea to involve historiography in my examination answer?

Historiography is a criterion in Band 4, and often students try to quote historians. It's a good idea to involve it, but only in short bursts, and only after you've stated your point. There's no point in using other famous historians otherwise examiners don't think you have your own views.
