Solve x^2 - 7x + 10 = 0

First factorise: (x - 2)(x - 5) = 0

Then either: x - 2 = 0   so x = 2

            or   x - 5 = 0   so x = 5

Solve 5x - 7 = 3x + 2, to find the value of x

x = 4.5 

Rearrange the equation, so that like terms are on the same side:

5x - 3x = 2 +7

2x = 9
