Find the area of the region, R, bounded by the curve y=x^(-2/3), the line x = 1 and the x axis . In addition, find the volume of revolution of this region when rotated 2 pi radians around the x axis.

As we are looking to find the area under a curve we can use integration. The area under a curve with equation y = f(x), bounded by the lines x = a and x = b and the x axis can be expresse...

The triangle ABC is such that AC=8cm, CB=12cm, angle ACB=x radians. The area of triangle ABC = 20cm^2. Show that x=0.430 (3sf)

From the equation of the area of a triangle,
Area = 1/2 ACCBsin(C)
20 = 1/2 * 8 *12 * sin(x)
=> sin(x) = 0.416666...
=> x = 0.430 to 3sf
