5x - 20 = 2x +43 -> 5x-2x= 43+20 -> 3x=63 -> x=21 therefore x=21 

(2x+43) + (4y-5x)=180  -> 2x+43+4y-5x=180 (because adjacent angles in a parallelogram equals 180)
