Show that x^2 - x +2 is positive for all values of x

(x-1/2)= (x-1/2)(x-1/2)=x2-x+1/4, add 7/4 to get x2-x+2 therefore x2-x+2 = (x-1/2)2 + 7/4

squared numbers always positive so (x-1/2)2

Vectors a and b are defined by a = 2i + 3j and b = 4i - 2j, find 3a-b in terms of i and j

3a = 6i + 9j

-b = -4i + 2j

3a-b = (6i-4i) + (9j+2j) = 2i + 11j
