Why was there rebellions against Henry VII in 1485 to 1487?

  1. Highlight the key words: 'Rebellions' 'Henry 7th' '1485-7'

  2. Think of the chronology: Wars of the Roses ended in 1485 with the Battle of Bosworth and Henry ascends the throne.

  3. Answer the question and don't forget the detail! Detail is very important as it improves the quality of your written work.

Answers might include:

-1485 did not secure the dynasty. Battle of B does not mean the Kingdom is at peace.

-Yorkists ambitions and training of imposters = open rebellion.

-Earl of Kildare and the Irish earls wanted more automony --> Fought under Simnel's ambitions

-Margaret of Burgundy threat. She viewed Henry VII as a usurper backed by the French. Burgundy became a home for dissidents of Henry. I.e) Earl of Lincoln.

-Rebellions were not a novel concept: Precedent was set by Lovell in 1486.
